Monday Sneak Peek + A Little Help Needed!
So here is one screen of Monday and it’s still a work in progress. (click on it to see it’s full size)
How do you like? Well, that’s exactly what we need your help with. This screen needs help being beautiful, what you would like to see, what would you move around (assuming functionality fully on this one image – I know, it’s sad).
Tell us your thoughts of what you think so far?
I think you should make the thumbnail image in the contact list match the height of each row, and aligned to (touching) the left. And the dividing line in the bottom toolbar between the +Group button and the +Contact button is 1 pixel off from the dividing line in the area above. Also I think the placement of the sort button is a bit awkward. Maybe remove the lines and spacing in the bottom toolbar and align all buttons to the left. The Edit Contact button also looks a bit out of place… I'm tempted to say centre it, but it'd go against the design synergy of the app. Find a way to put it inside the card and rename it to just “Edit” perhaps?
I'm still curious as what this app actually does as well. Is it meant to be a replacement for the Apple Address Book? Will Monday integrate with it or will it have its own database? What's kinds of features are planned to be implemented to the application? I might have a few suggestions on that front. Please get back to us soon about these things, as I'm really interested in what this app has to offer. Thanks.
This is so great! This is exactly the stuff we needed. As far as the features I will give the “final” feature list to Ashli in a few days so she can share them with you guys.
She knows mostly all (and insisted on a few,lol) but I hate giving out features too early because if I remove one and someone was counting on that feature in the app, it will be a bit disappointing. Plus, usually we add more features than we usually plan so I don't like people to write off our app before it's complete.
Yes it is meant to be a replacement for the Apple Address Book. Integration A BIG YES! When you start the app, you basically will have to do nothing.
Also, this hasn't even hit the private beta testers yet and they will be a huge determining factor if any features get added or removed.
I have an issue with the “Edit Contact” button as well, I personally think it simply needs to be a custom button that looks better, that white outline just doesn't work.
The grey gradient background looks a little plain, just have no clue what to replace it with. Good point on the larger thumbnails and moving them over. I felt the same awkwardness about the buttons as well – removing the lines is the fix.
I think you're right about the plain gradient background… how about a texture? I did a quick mashup in Photoshop with a few of my suggestions. I just moved the edit button but I agree with replacing it with a custom button. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3412877/monday-mashup.jpg
Great, I'm looking forward to hearing about it! Glad to hear it's going to be a replacement for the Address Book, since I've been looking for an alternative for a while. I've looked into CRM solutions, but most are too complicated and not very intuitive for recreational use. I've also tried Bento to create custom forms, but I'd much rather have a standalone application for managing my contacts. I think Monday might be closer to the answer I've been looking for. Also glad you guys are keen on integration, keep up the good work
