Since Cram is no more, you need a new study app. One of our 12 study app suggestions for the Mac, iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad might just fit the bill.

I never thought I’d be writing a list of alternatives to Cram…but it’s happening, lol. If you are a student out there looking for an alternative solution to the now discontinued Cram for Mac or Cram for iPhone I have provided some suitable suggestions below. Quite frankly, only one of them have Cram’s multiple-choice testing feature, so if you are looking for that I don’t have many great solutions for that at the time (although I’m sure someone will have a great suggestion in the comments that I can later add to this post).

As for flashcard study apps, there are plenty out there and here are some of the best.

Mac:

Mental Case (Mac, iPhone & iPad) – Mental Case is probably the closest in quality to Cram. Although it doesn’t have the multiple choice testing mode they have a unique study case option that could work for some of you Crammers out there. Mental Case isn’t the most efficient app to work with, but what Mental Case offers that Cram didn’t have is a iPad app, so now those looking to study on the iPad can do so.

Study – This study app looks good and is easier to use than Mental Case. Even though it’s easier to use, it doesn’t have iPhone and iPad counterparts. If you just study on your Mac or only looking for a Mac study app this could be the one.

StarQuiz – This app is really geared toward teachers not really self learners, but this doesn’t mean you can’t be your own teacher . StarQuiz allows you to create a quiz and share with your students which means it uploads your self made test to the Internet…sigh. It’s really the only option for those preparing for a multiple-choice test. StarQuiz is another app that doesn’t have a mobile counterpart, but again everyone doesn’t own both a Mac and mobile Apple device.

iFlash – iFlash is an old standby. Really solid, really simple…maybe even a bit too simple. This app is nice, but it’s up to the user and what they need out of their study app if they will appreciate the true simplicity of the app or not.

iOS (iPhone and/or iPad)

FlashCards Deluxe – Has multiple choice option!!!! Also has Quizlet, Flashcardexchange, slideshows, custom text, and a lot more features. This is probably a true solution for those coming from Cram iPhone.

FlashCards – Multiple import options, text, audio, images, and more make this app a complete flash card solution for those seeking a flash card solution only.

Flashcards++ – Private and public sets with Quizlet, Dropbox imports, text to speech, smart study, and the typical flash card app features.

iFlipr Flashcards - No longer being updated like Cram, but is a solid alternative. Was brought back from not being sold because of popular demand. Spreadsheet import, offline study like Cram, smart learning algorithm.

Hello all,

A lot of you have emailed with the most amazing ideas for feature updates and we’ve considered them all, unfortunately we have decided to discontinue the development on Cram at this time.

SimpleLeap Software will continue to have new apps developed in the future, but Cram will no longer be sold and updated.

We really wanted to do some special things with Cram and were going to have Cram help students convert their class notes into flash cards and multiple choice tests. Sadly, our time, funding, and interest were limited in making Cram what it should be.

Cram will no longer be sold on both the iPhone and the Mac, but of course supported. We will continue support, including access to the Cram test portal for the next three (3) months.

All tests that you want to access must be moved to your device for future access.

Cram was our first app and was developed on the Blackberry initially in 2008. We have a special place in our hearts for the app and especially the users of the app. We will be pushing ourselves to make bigger and better apps in the future and we hope you guys stay along for the ride.

Thanks so much for Crammers for everything.

UPDATE: Need some Cram iPhone and Cram for Mac alternatives, check here for other study apps.

When you are interviewing, you must realize that employers interviews usually fall under five different categories. You may be thinking, “What?! There are five types? I only thought there was one!”

Before you begin to stress out, you can be comforted because, by reading this article, you will be able to identify each of the interviews. You will be prepared for each, and you will know how to respond accordingly.

You will become a star interviewee, and soon, armed with knowledge and skill, you will land the job that you have always wanted.

These are the five types of interviews:

1) Traditional Interview
This is the interview that most people know about. It is the traditional interview where the interviewer asks you broad questions. Things such as, “Why do you want to work here?” or “Why would you be a good fit for our company?”
You will want to answer these questions with personalized answers that highlight you, but don’t make you sound too cocky. Make sure to practice just incase you are faced with this interview.

2) Case Interview
This is where you are presented with a case in your interview and are asked how you would solve it. These interviews are mostly to access your problem solving skills. There is really no way to prepare for this type of interview. However, you must be confident. If your solution seems ridiculous, then you must stick with it. Interviewers are looking to see you you will react in certain situations.

3) Stress Interview
This is quite possibly one of the worst interviews. It is true to it’s name―it will stress you out. It is mainly designed to see how you will perform under stress. Interviewers may ask you many quick questions, they may respond rudely, or even make you wait until your interview. Just remember to remain calm, don’t let them take advantage of you, and stay sane.

4) Behavioral Interview
This interview is based on getting to know you based on your past experiences. It may seem somewhat impossible to prepare for an interview where they ask about any type of situation. However if you are prepared, you will be able to answer the questions accordingly. Before your interview, make sure that you have thought of possible scenarios and what you learned from them.

5) Phone Interview
This is possibly the hardest interview. Many interviewers take advantage of phone interviews to narrow down a wide pool of applicants. When you are interviewing, remember that they can’t see your body language. But that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t smile, smiling actually helps lighten your voice and helps you destress.

There are many types of interviews. Some may be a combination of the ones above. If you are prepared for each, you will do well in your interviews. Good luck!

Need beta testers for cute and addictive upcoming iPhone game title - Goop! Beta testers receive the game free and before anyone else.

WARNING: THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CRAM (there is some decision making about Cram going on right now, more on that waaaayyyy later)!

So…Goop as I may have mentioned, the first game from our new company Fine & Dandy Games! We’ve been working on our first game title for months and it’s FINALLY around the corner.

We are posting an invite to all the fellow Crammers out there since it’s summer break! We know you guys are surely studying over summer break and just need a little down time . So why not spend some of that study break time playing a game.

We are looking for a few beta testers and personally wanted to invite the fellow Crammers first (or those that are reading the blog at the moment, HA!).

Of course you get the game for free and before anyone else as a beta tester.I mentioned you get it free, right?!

You can get the beta testing deets here! We will be contacting beta testers in about one week.

The developers of popular flash card study app on the Mac, iPhone, and iPod touch have launched a game company and they are giving away an iPad 2 to a lucky winner!

Yes, that’s right. We (Ashli and Patrick) started a new company, Fine & Dandy and we are ready to release our first game. Luckily the good news doesn’t end there.

As the title suggested, there is an brand spanking new iPad 2 coming to those that help us name our game characters, which are called “Eeeps”.

The name of the new game is “Goop” and the premise of the game is simple really. All you have to do is get those adorable Eeeps across the board safely without getting gooped. It sounds sooo simple, but there’s more to the game than this.

Find out the rest at the F&D blog and also learn how to get your hands on your own iPad 2!

P.S. 85% completion on Cram 2.0 iPhone and iPad!!!

Hot on the heels of the release of the iPhone came an entire cottage industry that sprang up around Apple’s new device. Literally hundreds of cases in practically every conceivable color and style from dozens of manufacturers came on the scene to cater to the needs and desires of iPhone fanatics everywhere.

Ostensibly, a good case protects the iPhone from dust, water and scratches, but I’ll let you in on a little secret: the big draw of most cases is to allow iPhone owners to strut their coveted gadgets in style.

iPhone cases are made in every imaginable style and material, from leather to silicone to acrylic plastic. There are so many cases available, in fact, that the tough job may not be finding one that suits your needs but in sorting through the bewildering array of cases, styles and materials available.

In any event, if you consider your iPhone a priceless investment, you will not only be able to protect this extension of your personality but will be able to look fashionable while doing so.

An iPhone represents an investment not only in terms of the initial purchase price but in the data stored on it, as well as the monthly phone contract, so owners naturally want to keep their investment protected against damage. Of course, any good case will keep an iPhone protected, but which one will truly represent your unique personality?

One popular type of case is a skin case in the form of a clear plastic membrane that protects the iPhone against scratches while keeping the “slim factor” of the gadget, but will not protect the device again shocks or falls. A hard case will hide the iPhone’s exterior, but will do a better job of protecting against drops. Another type of case is the flip style which often comes in leather and protects all sides of the device while allowing the user to access the screen by flipping the lid or cover.

The search continues for the perfect iPhone case.

Just as when Apple released its iconic iPods, millions of accessories for the iPhone have been manufactured. The vast ecosystem of suppliers that spring up around any of Apple’s products can be taken as a given and will probably exist as long as Apple’s products remain so popular. In fact, there has been a “halo effect,” as many people who appreciate their iPods and iPhones have chosen to buy Mac laptop or desktop computers as well, driving a demand for even more accessories.

Manufacturers such as Belkin, Griffin, Speck, and InCase make iPhone accessories, and even the famous Louis Vuitton fixed its attention on the device. It produced perhaps the first ever luxury case for the iPhone at the hefty price of $120 for the Signature Edition and $1,120 for the Alligator LV Edition.

How to choose the perfect iPhone case for you? You will want to take several factors into consideration. First, it should fit easily into your pocket, unless you intend to clip the device onto your belt. Secondly, it should have some kind of screen protection, whether it be a thin-film that covers the screen or a cover that folds over. Finally, of course, it should be stylish, attractive, and a true reflection of your personality.

Or should I have placed at final consideration first…?

You might get the impression that the Mac is the forgotten stepchild of the Internet marketing industry. But did you know that some of the top names in Internet Marketing use Macs? Visit InternetMacMarketing.com and get a FREE 75-page ebook that covers everything you need to know about running your Internet business using a Mac, iPhone and iPad.

Get some helpful iPhone apps to keep you out of college debt.

It would be great to leave college debt free. Putting these apps to work can help a college student leave with a degree and no loans to repay. Most of the apps are designed to help college students find discounts, but others can be used to track expenses and keep the student from falling into the debt hole before their financial journey has even begun.

Budget Buster was designed to give you that added edge when it comes to tracking finances. Start with a particular amount of money, and the BudgetBuster will let you know how much you have spent and how much you have left before the wallet is empty. Life in college can be a bit hectic on the best of days. Having a tool that will track your money can make life just a little easier. Knowing what is going out can give a student the edge needed to leave college debt free.

DinnerSpinner provides detailed instructions for creating meals from the pantry and on your time schedule. The app lets you choose how much time you want to spend on your meal and also what ingredients you want to put into the creation. You can also save your favorite recipes so that you have them with you at all times. Cooking meals at home can be a great way to save money and keep the finances in the black.

Chegg helps college students find amazing deals on textbook rentals. Paying college tuition is an expected expense, but facing that first bill for books can be downright shocking. This app allows college students to find the books they need by scanning in the bar code on the book or just searching by title, author or ISBN. The cost of books never goes down. Buying used books can be a cost saving alternative, but being able to rent books saves you the hassle of trying to re-sell them when the class is up (although there Chegg helps make that a little less painful). Renting will also be even more cost effective in the end.

UrbanSpoon gives culinary challenged students another way to save money on meals. The dials allow you to select a location to eat based on a number of different factors, including the average price of meals. Food can be one of the top expenses for college students. Finding different ways to save on that major expense can give college students an edge for leaving school debt free.

Pennies is another great budgeting app that makes tracking expenses as easy as touching the screen. You can also see what your top expenses are and get an estimate on what you are spending each day. The categories are set, so you will have to find a way to make them work. All in all, any tool that makes it easier to know your finances will give you a better chance of walking away from college debt free.

Getting a college education will be an expensive endeavor. The challenges that you face in school will be worth the effort. It will be made even more enjoyable if you can walk away with a degree and nothing to owe for it.

The best way to stay in the black financially is to always bring in more than you spend. Finding that financial balance in collage may require that you take on a job or find extra funding through scholarships. No matter how the bills get paid, you will be more likely to leave college debt free if you watch the spending and look for easy ways to cut your expenses.

It feels like cell phones have been around forever, but the truth is they only began to become truly widespread around a decade ago. Cell phones have really come far since then – instead of being bulky pieces of plastic with bad reception, now we have sleek, sexy, tiny little things that are nearly as powerful as full size computers but can fit into your pocket.

Cell phones have advanced to a whole new level with the advent of the smartphone. Phones really can do everything now. New apps appear nearly every single day, each one attempting to make our lives just a little bit cooler or easier. There are apps for just about anything, including your car.

Here are five of the top iPhone apps for student drivers:

Carticipate – Carticipate is a free application that you can download from the iTunes store. It’s a rideshare program designed to promote carpooling. It’s a great app for people who are interested in reducing their carbon footprint and/or saving money. People using this app can search for other people interested in carpooling in their area. This app isn’t restricted to users in the United States – it can also be used in other countries around the world. This is perfect for students commuting to and from school.

iGasUp – iGasUp is a program available for iPhone users for $2.99. This app will allow you to search for nearby gas stations and compare gas prices, allowing you to find the cheapest gas no matter where you are. There are over 110,000 gas stations on the iGasUp network. iGasUp constantly updates itself to provide you with the latest prices and provides maps to help you get to the gas station of your choice.
